Marching Band Leadership 2009-10

"Congratulations to those of you selected to lead the DHS Catamount band in 2009!  I believe we have selected our strongest leadership corp yet. The "competition" for these positions grows stronger every year. To those members who weren't selected, many of you were very close to Lieutenant status.   In fact, this year's scores were collectively the highest on record.  Let me also say I know I can count on your support for our leadership corps, and I would like each and every one of you to pursue leadership again next year. Our band is truly blessed with many talented individuals!" --- Mr Henry

Cheesecake / Pizza Fundraiser Delivery - Thur Oct 1st (HELP NEEDED!!)

We need your help on Thursday October 1st!  Our band students (DMS & DHS) sold $30,000+ of Cheesecake / Pizza / Cookie Dough products for this year's fundraiser. All of the items will be delivered to Dalton Middle School on Oct 1 and we need help sorting them all and grouping them by each student's order form so the band students/parents can pick them up and then deliver to their customers. We will begin at 8AM and will stay until the last pickup, usually around 8PM. This is a very important fundraiser for the band program and it takes a lot of people to make it successful. If you can donate your whole day or just 1-2 hours, we would love to have you join us and we definitely need the help. No experience necessary. On the job training provided. We need to keep a list of who is planning to help and when, so if you can help with this effort, please send us an email if you can help (jeffparrott@charter.net).

What's Wrong With This Picture? (answer below)

What's wrong with this picture?  Answer: There are football players in it. Football players do not belong on the field during halftime while the bands are playing. This is RUDE! During the entire halftime performance tonight, we had several Dalton football players that interfered with the band's show. Come on guys, show some respect.

DCI Southeastern Championship - Saturday July 25

On Saturday July 25th, just prior to band camp, we are offering students the opportunity to attend a Drum Corps International (DCI) competition in Atlanta’s Georgia Dome. This is the DCI Southeastern Championship with 24 corps scheduled to compete in Prelims during the afternoon and then the top corps in Finals Saturday night. These are highly skilled musicians performing in energetic and exciting marching drills. We highly encourage you to attend this show if at all possible. The cost for group tickets is $20 each and we need your money by Wed July 1 so our order can be placed. We will depart around 1 PM and return to DHS by 2 AM.  As a youth activity (ages 14-22), the world of competitive Drum and Bugle Corps is an intense, choreographed musical experience staged on football stadium fields by students achieving high levels of excellence in performance. Through the drum and bugle corps experience, young people develop life skills including self-discipline, teamwork and leadership. This is an event you don’t want to miss!
